Lectures
In his lectures, Patrick van Veen places our social primal behaviour at the centre.
Across various themes, as described on the behaviour page, he explores why we display certain behaviours and why problems arise. He uses primate behaviour as a mirror. Primates are not burdened by shame, rational approaches, cultural layers or concealing clothing. They provide a clear and unfiltered framework within which we can examine our own behavioural challenges.

Research
Since 2010, conducting research and collecting data has become a central part of the work of Patrick van Veen and his colleagues at Apemanagement, involving both human and primate studies. For more than 15 years, data has been collected that has led to the development of models such as the Silo-model© and Krachtenveld model©. In collaboration with Radboud University and Praktikon, research conducted between 2012 to 2019 examined bullying behaviour among primary school pupils and teachers’ perceptions of bullying. Among other things, this research resulted in signal cards to help teachers recognise bullying more effectively.
Research with chimpanzees focused on cooperation and social intelligence. Research with orangutans examined how they respond to changes in their environment.
Data and unique visual material from this research are used in lectures and training programmes.
